Description

Jaw Bones are a new promising five piece band from Thessaloniki, Greece. The band’s sound lies somewhere between Heavy and Stoner Rock, but with a Grunge feeling. Their music blends all those elements smoothly, and this can be heard on their first album released by Sliptrick Records in 2017, called Wrongs On A Right Turn.

The album contains nine explosive songs, with no so-called fillers, and enough diversity to keep a variety of listeners banging their heads. Among the 9 tracks, are songs that have a great deal of energy like Communication and Fear, others that are more mid-paced, with a groove that gets you moving from the start, like Ego Tripper (the first official single/video from the album) and Don’t Bring Me Down. Then there are also more experimental and individual tracks like Sugar Daddy and Should Know Better.

There is also much to be gained from the lyrics of the album, as Jaw Bones decided to approach the songs with a sense of seriousness. They talk about sociopolitical issues, as well as human relationships and emotions.

Wrongs On A Right Turn | Released worldwide via Sliptrick Records on May 30th, 2017

And they manage to drag rock ’n roll back to those sludgy, muddy and dusty yet tuneful basics. And that’s the core business of these grimy Greeks, melodic grunge, stoner trucking and that look over ones’ shoulder to see what came before. Highly addictive …read more

Thessaloniki’s Jaw Bones are young and angry with a riff packed debut album, there’s stoner, grunge and punk on this record as it opens with the attitude filled Communication is delivered like a megaphone in the face with Disciple having the groove of early Soundgarden which continues into Ego Tripper that has funkier tones to it but with the bands rawness still coming through. The Ride To Nowhere is a much more psychedelic affair as is the slow burning Song Of The Nightingale and Should Know Better ramps up the riffage. With Greek metal flooded with bands in the stoner style they need to adapt their style to stand out from the pack and Jaw Bones do this by adding doom on A Thousand Masks along with the punk and grunge sounds mentioned earlier. Wrongs On A Right Turn will be instrumental in taking Jaw Bones in the right direction …read more
