German band Atrium Noctis are ready with the release of their new album, Aeterni . With a new line-up, formed around ever present member Hydra Gorgonia, the band have moved into a new, advanced artistic direction. Atrium Noctis plays music which has its roots in symphonic dark and black metal. Influences from classical music and elements from Pagan Metal, contribute to a pronounced, unique sound and a special type of sheen to the output. There is great darkness paired with a thick slice of heaviness emphasized within the new songs. Melancholic, hymnic and sentimental passages are also a part of the music. Additionally, epic and colourful nuances enrich everything as a whole. Sliptrick Records announce the very first release from the fast rising all female Japanese group Lovebites . Let us introduce you to the 4 hard, heavy and melodic tracks of The Lovebites EP . There’s no denying the fact that all the members of the band have been huge fans of heavy metal bands from overseas. They know how well English words flow with metal music and they also know they deserve to go global. Their respect and love for the “internationally acclaimed bands” that inspired them, and the fact that they dream of being acclaimed themselves in the future, naturally led them to sing in English. 3 of the 4 songs on their debut EP are written in English and sang by Lovebites Japanese-English bilingual lead-singer, asami. In early 2017, Indignity entered Orion Studio to record their full length debut album, Realm Of Dissociation . The soundscape is more complex than previous releases, enriched with slam, grind and brutal death touches. The compositions also contain a variety of styles; short and brutal ‘rockets’, fast parts combined with slower breakdowns, some excellent grinding guitar work, to sometimes groovy and mid-tempo tracks. NATIONAL LAGARDE | Story Of A Southern Gentleman

With a shared admiration of rock n’ roll, murder ballads, secret messages from the guitar and a good story, National Lagarde was formed in 2012 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The membership comprises of Terry Lagarde (guitarist and singer), Stuart Smith (drums and percussion) and Jennifer Kirtlan (bassist). Both Terry and Stuart were born on the Bayou and raised among the creatures native to there. They both enjoyed a raucous time playing in Rik Slave & The Phantoms in the ‘90s, taking them from New Orleans to New York to Los Angeles and everywhere in between. Later, Terry would become Louie Fontaine’s (Starlight Searchers) guitarist for years, enjoying travels to Cairo and spending time recording, playing shows and touring throughout Europe. Jennifer has played in numerous bands in New Orleans and toured the USA many times over with the Hazard County Girls. Bonding over obscure music and dark tales of the south, Jennifer would often drive down to the Bayou region to learn Terry’s songs and get spooked. They began recording the songs and Terry’s recording knowledge was utilized with ceremonies in different locations, finally culminating in their rehearsal studio in a haunted old hotel in New Orleans. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Terry Lagarde, Story of a Southern Gentleman is a result of these gatherings. With varying influences, there are heavy riffs mixed with a lean towards flamenco, jazz, blues or whatever suits the mood of the songs about paranoia, demons, strange love, and mystical happenings. GRAVESTONE | Proud To Be Dead

Italian Death Progressive Metalists Gravestone , return with a new lineup and EP entitled Proud To Be Dead . The release is heavily influenced by each member with hints of horror and progressive brought to life by the use of keyboards and synths. Proud To Be Dead was recorded at Trick Studio by Andrea Mattei. It was mixed and mastered by Alfonso Corace (drummer of Lunarsea). On the EP, the band present 5 songs which includes a rearrangement of Corpse Embodiment from a previous album Symphony of Pain complete with text inspired by Lovecraft and Myths of Cthulhu. The song is realised in a more modern style and shows the progression Gravestone has gone through since their formation and the songs original version in 1992. Proud To Be Dead’s text refers to the protagonist’s (and our) frenetic life, empty of values and affections. However, at the moment of his death, he realizes he’s in another world from which he can see his old world and as an external observer, he expresses his (negative) opinion about this style of life that people live. Our protagonist comes to the conclusion that life after death is better than the previous one he had and therefore is “Proud To Be Dead”. Eyes Without Sight is inspired by Lovecraft’s dream cycle. The initial and main riff is inspired by the harmony of classical music. It’s the most melodic song on the EP. Flaggelation is an allegory of those attitudes of some religious groups who injure themselves in an attempt to reach their God. In other words, pain as vehicle to divinity. Closing the EP is Matres , which is inspired by the trilogy of the three mothers from the Dario Argento movies Inferno, Suspiria and the Third Mother.
